Arranging your August activities

On 22nd August 2017

Summer holidays are upon us and there’s lots to be done to make the most of them.

Eat

Your own home-grown veggies

Never tried to grow your own fruit and veg because ‘we live in the city so it’s not going to work’? Head to the Museum of London on 26th August for a DIY workshop on how to grow your own veg in even the tiniest of spaces such as window sills and balconies. Book your ticket here.

Burgers galore on National Burger Day

24th August is the annual celebration of one of the world’s most popular dishes: burgers. Not that we don’t celebrate them every other day of the year by stuffing our faces with classic cheeseburgers, veggie halloumi burgers and the wackier varieties – but make sure you come down and join us on the day itself – you wouldn’t want to miss out!

Drink

Espresso Martinis for £5

If you’re not sold already there must be something wrong with you 😉 For 3 days only, between 10th and 12th August London’s best bars will be taking part in the Mr Black Espresso Martini Fest, and you’ll be pleased to know that The Drift, The Refinery Bankside and Drake & Morgan at King’s Cross will all be participating.

All you have to do is buy your Festival ticket for £10 download the DrinkUp app so you can show the bars your pass and you can have as many Espresso Martinis as you can drink for £5 a pop. See you on the 10th!

See

The sunrise while you get your yogi on

Surrounded by greenery with breath-taking views over London, what better setting is there for a spot of morning yoga than the Sky Garden? It’s an early start, but it’s worth it to watch the sun rise – and it’s a mere £10 for the class, though we recommend coughing up an extra tenner and you’ll get breakfast thrown in too! Get your tickets now and get ready for ultimate zen!

Do

Get stuck into London’s biggest street party

We could never get bored of Notting Hill Carnival – there’s a reason it’s one of the biggest events of the year. It’s fabulous, that’s why. This year is just as good as ever with the ever-wonderful Caribbean-themed music, food & drink and 60 steel bands.

Celebrate love

Don’t fancy such a big bank holiday? There are plenty of fab alternatives to Carnival, and our pick of the bunch is the Festival of Love at the Southbank Centre. It’s always got cracking events and this is no different. Think installations, pop-ups and talks with hundreds of artists and communities getting involved, all celebrating love.
