Summer in Manchester

We’re well into summer now and as our first summer open, we’re enjoying it more than ever! As we’re new to the neighbourhood, we thought we’d round up a few of the things going on near us that we’re most excited about. From the roguest bingo you’ll experience to good old fashioned theatre, the summer is yours for the taking. And with  weather like this, we’re all about the #staycation. Who needs to leave Manchester for a holiday hey?

Theatre
Various dates
We’re right around the corner from The Palace Theatre on Oxford Street and less than ten minutes’ walk from The Royal Exchange Theatre on St Ann’s Square – so your pre-theatre dinner is looking right up! Heading in a rush from work without time to eat before? Pop in after for some bar snacks and a wind down drink while you discuss the performance.

There are some fabulous performances on at the minute, from Mamma Mia and The Great Gatsby at The Palace Theatre to some crackers coming up at The Royal Exchange including Queen Margaret and Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman.

Have a look at our food and drink menus right here to for some inspiration.

Pride Manchester
24th – 27th August
From mere tombola stands in Canal Street in Manchester all those years ago to one of the biggest LGBT celebrations in Europe, Manchester Pride is an event that attracts people from far and wide every August. From the Big Weekend to the main Parade – there’s so much going on that you won’t want to miss out on and we’re just around the corner, so pop in for some drinks before or a bite to eat and carry on the party!

Our suggestion? Book yourself in for one of the best boozy brunches in Manchester with bloody Marys and espresso martinis galore before you head on out to enjoy the Pride festivities. When your feet can’t take anymore you can fall into a heap on our gorgeous terrace and watch the world go by with some snacks, and continue as you meant to go on into the night!

Manchester Comic Con
28th – 29th July
Manchester Comic Con returns this weekend and hell are we excited! It’s the ultimate weekend of gaming, pop-culture, and all your favourite tv heroes. With Manchester Central 5 minutes from us, you can pop in and out for cocktails and more all weekend! We’re open from 10am till late, so come and see us – and make sure to use our Comic Con snapchat filter 😉

Bongo’s Bingo
Various dates
Bongo’s Bingo has returned to The Albert Hall in Peter Street, mere yards away from The Anthologist. Come on down for dinner to line your stomachs before heading to the booziest bingo around! What could be better than some gorgeous flatbreads and sharing platters with the team over bubbles and cocktails before getting down to some uber competitive (and even more boozy) bingo!

Football returns after it nearly came home!
Various dates
The start to this premier league season should be as good as ever with everyone in high spirits after our World Cup tournaments. We’re predicting there to be an interest from many more than the usual fans, after the tournament made fans out of those who are adamantly against the game under usual circumstances. Well, for those of you who are planning on going to any of the games at either the Etihad or Old Trafford, why not join us for brunch before the 3pm kick offs? Or head on over after the game to start your Saturday night with us.
For those evening games it’s an excuse to get out the house so why not treat yourself to an early dinner before you head out to the stadiums? And there’s surely nothing better than a Sunday Roast when they’re showing on a Sunday as they so often are.

Whatever it is that floats your boat this summer, we look forward to seeing you to help you celebrate it.
