Charity

Drake & Morgan are proud to be partnered with the amazing charity Maggie’s, who support people living with cancer across their 21 Centres in the UK and abroad. With the kitchen table at the heart of each Centre, they are a place where people can sit and chat, or have some time out over a quiet cup of tea. This philosophy mirrors the thinking of our bars & restaurants and therefore we felt it’s a natural fit between us in addition to Maggie’s being a fantastic charity.

As well as involving our teams in various activity days and fundraisers we have partnered with Pennies, the digital charity box who allow us to give our wonderful customers a way to join in the fundraising too. When you pay using your card and Chip & PIN in any Drake & Morgan restaurant, you’ll be given the opportunity to ‘top-up’ your bill and donate 50p to charity. Every penny goes to charity: 90% goes to Maggie’s (registered charity no. SCO24414) and 10% goes to Pennies (registered charity no. 1122489).

Pennies

Pennies is the digital upgrade of the traditional charity box, designed to fit with our increasingly cashless lifestyles.

You can give your small change a big purpose by donating a few pence to charity when paying by card at partner retailers. It’s as simple as a single press of a button, the tap of a screen or click of a mouse whether you’re on the high-street, dining out, or shopping online and on smart devices.

Pennies is a UK registered charity, and their aim is simple – to help raise more money for the charity sector and offer a new, data-free, way of fundraising through the digital charity box. Millions of customers have embraced feel-good giving with Pennies, making hundreds of thousands of digital pennies count for charities every single week. Maggie’s

Every year, over 300,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in the UK, facing tough questions, exhausting treatment and difficult emotions.

These challenges affect not only those with cancer, but their family and friends, too. Built in the grounds of NHS cancer hospitals, Maggie’s Centres are places with professional staff on hand to offer support; to find practical advice about benefits and eating well; places where qualified experts provide emotional support; places to meet other people; places where you can simply sit in peace and quiet. Maggie’s core programme of support is based on evidence and has been shown to improve physical and emotional wellbeing during treatment and recovery.

For example, emotional support might involve a one-to-one or group session with a Clinical Psychologist, stress reduction and relaxation workshops, or art therapy and creative writing courses. Practical support might include advice on benefits and eating well, specialist support for managing hair loss and skin car during and after treatment, and courses for people who are newly diagnosed or adjusting to life after cancer. Social support comes from the people who work in and visit our Centres, and the supportive community around each kitchen table who understand what it is to be living with cancer.

As cancer will touch even more of us in our lifetime, Maggie’s wants everyone who needs it, to have access to the support Maggie’s offers. For more information, visit www.maggiescentres.org
