Wedding Trends 2026 from our weddings & Life Events Manager

Published: 08/01/2026

As weddings continue to evolve, couples are prioritising experience, atmosphere & genuine enjoyment over rigid traditions. To explore the wedding trends shaping 2026, we spoke to Gabi, our Weddings & Life Events Manager at Drake & Morgan, about how celebrations are changing & what couples should consider when planning a modern city weddings in London.

With years of experience delivering unforgettable city weddings our gorgeous central venues, Gabi shares her expert perspective on everything from multi-day celebrations to interactive dining & creating weddings that feel effortless, personal & truly joyful.

Q: As we head into 2026, how would you describe the direction weddings are moving in?

Weddings are becoming far more experience-led. We’re seeing celebrations extend beyond a single day, with couples planning multi-day or weekend-style weddings that allow them to spend more meaningful time with their guests. In 2026, it’s less about cramming everything into one schedule & more about creating moments that feel relaxed, immersive & genuinely enjoyable.

City wedding venues play a big role in this shift. Central London locations make it easy for couples to host welcome drinks, rehearsal dinners, wedding day celebrations & post-wedding brunches, all within the same vibrant area.

Q: Food & drink play such a big role in setting the tone. What shifts are you seeing?

Food has become a central part of the social experience. Alongside sharing menus, we’re seeing a growing appetite for interactive food stations that encourage movement, conversation & a relaxed flow throughout the day. From grazing tables to live cooking stations, food is designed to be enjoyed together rather than served formally.

This approach works beautifully in Drake & Morgan’s flexible city spaces, allowing couples to create a natural rhythm from daytime celebrations through to the evening party.

Q: Are there any drink trends you anticipate seeing more of?

Drinks are now part of the storytelling. Champagne towers remain timeless, but couples are embracing personality through margarita towers, espresso martini moments & bespoke cocktail stations. These moments signal transitions in the day & create a real sense of celebration, particularly in lively city wedding settings.

Q: How do you see décor developing as we move into 2026?

Décor feels richer but more intentional. Layered lighting, textured tablescapes & impactful floral moments help create warmth & atmosphere without over-styling. Venues with strong architectural features, natural light or city views require less decoration, allowing couples to focus on meaningful details rather than excess.

Q: What changes are you noticing in wedding fashion?

Wedding fashion is becoming more fluid & expressive. Bridal outfit changes are now about comfort & confidence, while grooms are embracing colour, texture & tailoring that feels modern & personal. This shift mirrors the overall move towards weddings that feel relaxed, stylish & authentic.

Q: Personalisation is a key theme. How is that showing up?

Personalisation shows up in the details guests really notice. Bespoke menus, creative signage & carefully considered touches help guests feel welcomed & valued. These elements are especially effective in city wedding venues, where couples can enhance the character of the space without overpowering it.

Q: What should couples look for when choosing a wedding venue in London or the UK?

Location & flow are essential. A central wedding venue with strong transport links makes it easy for guests travelling from near or far. Flexibility is equally important. A venue that can host ceremony, food & drink moments, evening celebrations & even multi-day events allows the wedding to unfold naturally.

Having an experienced wedding team is key. At Drake & Morgan, our dedicated “I Do” team works closely with couples to ensure every element feels seamless & stress-free.

Q: Why are city weddings becoming more popular, & what makes them special at Drake & Morgan?

City weddings offer energy, accessibility & unforgettable backdrops. Couples love celebrating in spaces with built-in character, iconic views & a vibrant atmosphere. Drake & Morgan’s London & Manchester wedding venues allow couples to host everything from intimate ceremonies to full-scale celebrations, all in central, easily accessible locations.

Q: From your perspective, what makes a wedding truly memorable?

More than anything, it’s when the couple is fully present, relaxed & genuinely having fun. The best weddings are the ones where the couple can let go, enjoy their guests & trust that everything is taken care of. When a wedding feels easy, welcoming & joyful, that energy carries through the entire celebration & is what guests remember most.
