To the tubes turning 24-hour

There might be a lot of ‘well it’s about time’ going around with the news that the tubes will be turning 24 hours on the 19th August, but we’re only seeing the positives – our wallets are going to be very grateful, we can stay out later as we no longer have to catch the ‘last train home’ (well if we’re on the Victoria and Central Lines anyway)…we could go on.

Well, as it’s such an exciting time, our bar managers got their thinking caps on and have created two gorgeous cocktails in honour of the occasion – from the 15th – 21st August you can try our About Thyme or Victoria Vittoria cocktails in The Anthologist, The Fable, The Drift, The Happenstance, The Refinery at Regent’s Place and Drake & Morgan at King’s Cross.

At a Cocktail Tea Party

The Little Yellow Door is fast becoming a household name, and their latest adventure seems certain to carry on the tradition. Every Saturday afternoon, London’s most popular flatmates will be offering guests a wonderfully authentic – and most importantly alcoholic – afternoon tea. Sip from alcohol-infused pots of tea such as Tea with Mussolini: rum infused chamomile tea with pomegranate and blueberries. All this comes with sandwiches, cakes and quintessentially British board games and to top it all off you can swap any spirit for champagne and make it all bottomless. Prices vary from £25-55pp: get involved, we will be.

The Olympics

It’s time to get behind our girls and boys again in what is set to be a cracking couple of weeks of sport – if the stadiums are ready on time! Although this year’s Olympics aren’t on our back door that’s not to say they’ll be any less entertaining. There are so many great places in London to watch the games and all sorts of Rio-themed parties and events going on to celebrate, so get behind Team GB and get cheering! Settle down in a deckchair to watch it at The Refinery or sip on The Parlour’s special Copacabana cocktail in front of the action.

Vamos Cuba!

While we’re on the Latin American bandwagon, here’s another cracker to add to the list. It opened at Sadler’s Wells theatre last week and is only on until the 21st August so get your tickets now. Described by the Telegraph as ‘a whirlwind of salsa and jazz that bristled with colour and energy’, Vamos Cuba! combines dance, Cuban dance and music into a spectacular show by celebrated choreographer Nilda Guerra. Turn up early and you can join a free salsa class or experience the Rumba Rum Bar!
