Wonderful Wines

By Drake & Morgan
On 23rd September 2016

As you will have heard, back in July we acquired the C&B Bars, which is all very exciting. The gorgeous, celebrated group bring a lot to the table, and we’ve been learning a lot from each other. One of the most renowned features of C&B Bars is of course their wine list, supplied by the long-established Corney & Barrow Wine Merchants.

In our most recent jazzing up of our Drake & Morgan menus in time for autumn, we’re incorporating a lot of our wines from Corney & Barrow Merchants – now our preferred wine supplier- whilst still keeping your favourites going of course! It seems silly not to give the updated list a little introduction though, with a little bit of the history about our fabulous new wine supplier Corney & Barrow.

Corney & Barrow Wine Merchants

Corney & Barrow is one of the longest established Independent Wine Merchants in the UK at a whopping 230 years old. They provide carefully-selected wines from small suppliers only where possible, making their selection of wines unique.

They currently hold two Royal Warrants as suppliers to HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH The Prince of Wales. These are just some of the reasons they deserve to be talked about!

We’ve listed a few of our favourite wines and given a suggested food pairing so you can get even more of a feel for it.

For white wine drinkers the Pazo La Maza Albarino is a really easy drinker and would go perfectly with any seafood dish, whilst if you fancy a softer red wine our Beaujolais-Villages is a cracker and would be delicious paired with the charcuterie platter.

Our new Rheingau Riesling QBA goes brilliantly with the Thai Coconut Curry, whilst the Roero Arneis DOCG is perfect with either the Roast Cod with brown shrimps or the Butternut Squash Risotto.

Just a little something to think about when you’re perusing the menu…! Of course if you fancy something different, just ask a member of staff and they’ll be more than happy to recommend you a wine to go with whatever you’re eating, or to have on its own.

Coravin Preservation

We’ve mentioned before about our Coravin Preservation System that we have in place at The Anthologist. If your memory needs refreshing, Coravin allows us to serve some of the best wines by the glass without any wastage by extracting the wine through the cork with a needle and reforming an air tight seal. This is going to come in even handier now as we have added more fine wines to The Anthologist menu that there’s a larger choice than before of fine wines you can have by the glass.
